Because we love movies too
11/05/2007
After so much time visiting the Apple website to feed our addiction to the latests movie trailers we realized how convenient would be to have the movie info and watch some trailers right at our desktop. Not that we dislike the QuickTime trailers page, on the contrary, but as you know we firmly believe that the place to have the information you want is at your desktop, without barriers.
So we worked on MovieBox, our widget that brings to you the latest trailers in QuickTime format from the Apple website, the premier site for HD quality trailers. You can see what’s new, a short film synopsis and even watch the trailer for the movie or go to their customized website. Oh and on top of that, you can search for your favorite movie and see if there is a trailer for it.
So head to our gallery, download MovieBox, watch some trailers and lets meet at the cinema.

Tweeting with Twitterbox
08/05/2007
A few weeks ago Juan and I proposed to make a widget frontend for Twitter, and after talking about it we ended up with two conditions, if we do something it has to be the best one out there, and it also must include new widgets features we can reuse in the rest of our widgets.
After weeks of work, tests, more tests and a lot of listening to the “tweety bird” (if you already use the widget you sure will remember the little bird), we released the 3.1 version of the beon widget, Twitterbox.
The new version has many new features over the previous 3.0 version, that makes it the most feature complete widget of our gallery. You can scroll to the latest 20 tweets from your friends and public timeline using the scroll wheel, key cursors or just clicking as always, reply to a tweet, invoke the widget using the alt-shift-T hotkey (that can be adjusted in the preferences to other keystroke of your liking) and it uses a new notification system that shows you the new tweets in a unobstrusive floating window.
For this occasion we asked the colaboration as betatesters to a limited but very qualified group of advanced users, to whom we are very grateful and although we are not sure about how thank them properly, you know we are short on budget, we thought of saying thank you publicly and buy all of you some beers when we met.
Carlos, Andrés, Sonia, Miguel, Diego, Juanjo, Antonio, Manu y Daniel, thank you very much for your time, dedication and comments that have helped finish our widget.
We will have more widgets soon, we are sure as good as this one, of which we are very proud. For now, you can download and start using Twitterbox from our gallery.
Cheers,
Jorge Salvador Caffarena
Who said wow?
08/02/2007
After weeks of hard work and headaches today we deserve a small rest and prespent to you the new web and the new features of our widgets.

Believe me when I say that it has been days and days of planning, development and tests stablishing the core of what will be, we believe, a new way in beon’s future.
There are a lot of changes, we have a new web site, more participative and we think more pretty. We have a new menu, we hope you like it, Juan wrote a post about it.
In addition to that we have new versions of our widgets with several improvements, thank you for your patience and suggestions, we have new Videobox, in Japan they are going to be very happy (they go crazy over there with this widget), new Babelbox, you can now copy and paste the text, and new widgets that we will present to you in the following days one by one.
We also wanted to offer you the posibility to create your own widgets, the number of people that asked for widgets to your blogs and webs is big, and as you know (we are sorry) we couldn’t make them all for you.
Now using our “beon factory” within only three minutes you will have your “beon widget”, it’s part of the compromise we wanted to meet with all of you that have supported us with your comments and recommendations during these first eight months of life of the project, thak you very much to all and we hope you like it.
I can’t stop thanking all the companies that have trusted us for the creation of their widgets, the number is growing each day. Thank to you we can dedicate ourselves to this every day, you are all a great example of good work and business initiative (what can I say, right?).
We hope that all these improvements will allow our widgets to be much more yours, that you feel them as something you help develop and evolve each day; without a doubt we would prefer that when you see them you say something better than “wow…”, we would be very happy if some of you said “see, they did it as I said, it’s better his way”, it would be a good signal, and remember that if we didn’t do it now, we will do it in the next version, ![]()
Greetings.

New beon menu
08/02/2007
Along the presentation of the new web site we also are releasing new versions of our widgets and a revamped menu.

We took note of the suggestions and comments from the beoners and created a new friendlier menu and easier to use.
This new beon menu opens at the center of your screen and shows groups of ten widgets identified with a “template” and its name or instance below, remember that some widgets are unique and others can have several instances, like Meteobox, etc.
To start a widget you only have to click its template and the beon gears will start to spin, after a few seconds the widget will appear in your desktop.
As I said, some widgets can have several instances, that is, you can have in your beon menu two Meteobox or three beonr; in such cases each template will have two buttons, one to close it and another to create a new son.
With the new beon menu you will also know about the latest published widgets and know about all the news of the beon user community due to its *new alert system* that will activate when something of interest happens.
Remember, if you have any doubt write to teambeon@beon4u.com, leave your question at the beon user community forum or call it through *Skype* and we will answer you as soon as possible.
Now it’s the time to start using it.
Greetings
Juan Pablo Olmo
